Instruction :  Answer the following questions based on the film " Ratatouille"!


1. Who is Remy?
Remy is an idealistic and ambitious young rat, gifted with highly developed senses of taste and smell.
2. Where do he and his family live?
At first, they live in house of an old French woman. And then they end up in the sewers of Paris.
3. What does Remy do in his free time?
He watches a cooking show in television that hosted by a famous restaurant chef, Auguste Gusteau.
4. What does Remy dream of becoming?
He desperately wanted to be a successful chef like Gusteau.
5. What two problems does he encounter in fulfilling his dream?
Because his kin doesn’t appreciate his love of food to be a chef like Gusteau, and then in the fact he just a rat.
6. Who is Gusteau? Describe him.
Gusteau is a renowned and extremely talented chef who wrote the bestseller Anyone Can Cook and founded the restaurant Gusteau's, which merited five stars. His personal motto is that anyone can cook, and is prone to producing recipes with unusual flairs. He was the youngest chef in history to obtain a 5-star restaurant, and was among the finest chefs worldwide.
7. What does he believe?
He believe that anyone can cook.
8. What happened to Gusteau?
The review of Anton Ego, a France's top food critic about his restaurant broke Gusteau's heart and he died shortly afterwards.
9. How did Remy get to Paris?
Remy was caught stealing foodstuffs in the kitchen that kept him away from the place. On the way, he separated from his family. He docked and washed up in the city of Paris.
10. Who is Remy best friend? How did they meet?
His best friend is Alfredo Linguini, one of chef in Gusteau’s restaurant. They meet in kitchen of the restaurant. Remy felt annoyed because Linguini mixed ingredients carelessly into the soup. So he went into the kitchen and concocted the soup.
11. What happened to Remy's best friend?
Alfredo knew that Remy was not an ordinary rat, because he saw it mixing the spices that had been stuffed into the delicious soup. He then invited the mice to work together because his cooking skills would be useless without human help.
12. How did Remy betray his best friend?
Remy invites all members of his family to spend the stock of food in warehouse of the restaurant. When Alfredo knew about this, he became very angry and expelled the rat and his entourage.
13. What does Remy learn about friendship?
He believes that in a team, whatever conditions we face, whether the deficiency or the strengths we meet, with good cooperation, positive thinking, our deficiency will be covered by the advantages of our team and our strengths will cover the deficiency of our team. So everything goes smoothly as expected.
14. Desribe Collete and her role in the movie?
Colette is the only female cook in Chef Skinner's kitchen at Gusteau's. She is a capable cook, hard working and very tough to enter the masculine world of haute cuisine. She had defended Linguini from being fired as a garbage boy when Skinner caught him "cooking" the soup in which Remy had made. She takes Linguini under her wing and teaches him the skills necessary to survive in the fast-paced kitchen. She was at first unaware of Linguini's admiration for her. Colette felt disgruntled when Skinner took a personal interest into Linguini, which in fact Skinner was trying to force the truth of Linguini's cooking.
15. Who is Anton Ego?
Ego is an imperious and acerbic food critic, whose reviews can make or break a restaurant. He adamantly rejects Gusteau's belief that anyone can cook, and was a firm critic of the idealist chef.
What did he have to eat at the restaurant?
He had to eat “Retatouille”, a modest French cuisine at the restaurant.
What was his reaction after tasting his meal?
Ego loves the taste of the meal. He remembered her mother's cooking when he was a child and he gave a very high praise for the meal.
What did he do when he met the cheft?
Ego was very surprised to know that the meal was cooked by a mouse. He told Remy to repeat the process and still produce the same delicious meal. He came home without a word. Apparently he gave a good review about the restaurant and donated some of his wealth to build a small bistro that managed by Alfredo with Collete and Remy as his chef.

Gusteau may have died from a broken heart, but would a negative restaurant review really cause a life-ending heart failure.

He misses the boat because he takes the Gusteau’s cook book that he stole from the old woman who accompanied him.
21. Who tells Remy to leave the sewer? What does he find?
He meets the ghost of Gusteau’s chef who helps him to raise his spirit if he can also cook if he wants to try it. The excited Remy finally climbe up to the ground and find the Gusteau’s  Restaurant on its surface.
